Two side by side new single-family homes in North Glendale. The two owners, one a Police Chief and the other a Fire Captain wanted shade and privacy from the elevated properties to the north. I recommend fast growing mesquite and palo verde. The drip irrigation was a simple multi zone polyurethane system with j loops and above ground emitters. This entire landscape was designed and installed by me and my wife Dr. Steffi Ickert Bond in 1993.
Irrigation Plans and nursery cut sheets on the new trees Velvet Mesquite (Prosopis velutina) 24″ / Box Mountain States Nursery and Sonoran Palo Verde (Cercidium praecox) 24″ Box / Mountain States Nursery.
Large retaining walls on the north side required Reduced Pressure Back flows and an aditional zone.

Scheck House (Desert Conversion 2003) Tempe, Arizona
Before – After
For this residential city owned project, I designed and coordinated the conversion with the assistance of a landscape contractor. I drafted up a desert landscape plan and multi zone drip irrigation plan and then solicited competitive pricing to install. I personally selected the 36” box trees and cacti. I also contracted the maintenance of this home for ten years before its sale. The project was completed in 2003 and sold to the public in 2012.
