Glendale, Arizona
The genus Pinus exhibit in Glendale Arizona 1998 profiled in the Glendale Star local newspaper. This exhibit featured only the Genus Pinus (Pine).
For the the Genus Pinus display, a collection was mounted on cardboard following Pilger, R. 1927 Die naturlichen Pflanzenfamilien 2. Aufl. 13: 271 – 342. This is where taxonomy gets fun, in this classic European classification system cone morphology was used to establish a series of SECTIONS based on similar cone characteristics. This exhibit gives the observer the opportunity to see those similarities and how early taxonomists classified pines.
Cardboard panels displaying the twelve SECTIONS and SUB SECTIONS within the Genus Pinus.
On display Saguaro Ranch Fruit Packing Shed, 1998.

Conifer cone exhibit (Pines of the World) in Berlin, Germany 1991 sponsored by the German Dendrological Society. Friend and fellow collector Karl Mullen has been a valuable collaborator, we met after the Berlin Wall came down. Karl from East Germany, his east block collections from Vietnam, North Korea, Honduras and the USSR were welcome additions to our collection. In return he received from us specimens from Mexico, Western Europe and the USA.
Featuring the whole range of Gymnosperms from around the world this exhibit was set up in a randome table top display by Genus.
